The Sun lab is particularly interested in understanding the underlying mechanisms by which osteogenic differentiation of the resident adult stem cells is regulated by the microenvironmental cues during tissue injury and repair.

Inspired by these fundamental findings, we are devoted to developing novel nano-biomaterials/drug delivery-based translational strategies for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.

Current research interests:

Promoting endogenous bone formation by developing innovative metabolite-based biomaterials
Promoting aged or inflamed bone/dental repair by targeting angiogenesis/inflammation via local delivery.
Studying the therapeutic potential of adult stem cells-derived nanomaterials in bone/dental tissue regeneration.
